Coastlines, Open Countryside, and Nature Reserves on the Halmstad to Falkenberg Stretch
The journey from Halmstad to Falkenberg is a delightful exploration of coasts, open countryside, nature reserves teeming with birds, and charming farm shops.

Heading west from Halmstad, you’ll encounter one of the west coast’s most popular beaches, Tylösand. Known for its safe swimming environment, Tylösand has professional lifeguards throughout summer. Following Tylösand, the route passes Frösakull, Ringenäs, and Vilshärad’s beaches, then heads east. Särdal’s windmill is home to a quaint cafe and farm shop.

In the picturesque village of Steninge, explore several nature reserves with unique beach meadows. Pause at Steninge youth hostel for pancakes at Plätteriet, or drop by their cider bar.

Continuing along Kustvägen to Ugglarp, consider a side trip to Svedinos Bil & Flygmuseum, boasting one of Europe’s largest collections of vintage cars and planes. Enjoy a break at Ugglarps havsbad by the sea. The route then veers inland through rolling agricultural hills. Take in the views at Smörkull and Grimsholmen nature reserve before reaching Skrea beach with its extensive bathing jetty.

Halmstad – The Summer City
Halmstad, Halland’s largest city with 100,000 inhabitants, is known as a prime summer destination. Kattegattleden runs through central Halmstad, alongside the River Nissan and the 17th-century Halmstad Castle. While the castle isn’t open to the public, its courtyard is worth exploring. Stora Torg square, ideal for shopping and dining, is just across the street. Halmstad is bike-friendly, featuring several public bike pumps for free tire inflations.

Falkenberg – A Town of New Discoveries
In Falkenberg, take your time to savor the experience. The town offers over 13 kilometers of sandy beaches, bathing rocks, and scenic viewpoints. It’s a small town packed with diverse attractions.

Falkenberg’s old town charm is undeniable. Wander through its Old Town with crooked houses and cobblestone streets, and don’t miss Tullbron, one of Sweden’s most beautiful stone bridges. Enjoy walks along the River Ätran, and visit Vallarna, a favorite spot for children with a playground, mini-zoo, skatepark, and open-air theatre. RIAN design museum showcases Swedish and international design, and Storgatan and Nygatan are great for shopping.

Falkenberg is also a culinary destination, from cozy cafes to gourmet restaurants, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients. The town is dotted with several farm shops.
