As you cycle along the coast from Varberg, you’ll traverse diverse landscapes including forests, farmlands, quaint villages, and urban areas. The route is moderately hilly, combining small roads, cycle paths, and sections with traffic.
Heading north from Varberg, the scenery shifts – sandy beaches give way to rocky shores and the first islands, such as Getterön, Balgö, and Vendelsö, emerge. The path leads to Bua harbour, a charming fishing village where seafood delicacies await. Beyond Frillesås, the route follows an old railway embankment, offering a traffic-free coastal ride. Enjoy a break at Åsa’s beaches, where you can grab an ice cream or relish coffee and cake.
Consider a detour to Tjolöholm Castle, Sweden’s unique Tudor-style castle. The journey continues past fields and horse farms, with a recommended stop at Rolfsbron in Hanhals, a stunning 17th-century arched stone bridge.
In Kungsbacka, the path weaves through one of western Sweden’s major commercial hubs.
